How we score

A reachable HTTPS website receives its own score out of 100. DNS resolution (5), HTTPS (10), TLS 1.3 (15), TLS 1.2 (5), no legacy TLS (10), certificate health (30), HSTS (5), redirects (5), and security headers (8) make up the website score.

Email receives a separate score out of 100: MX (20), SPF (20), DKIM (20), enforcing DMARC (20), SMTP TLS on port 465 (10), and IMAPS TLS on port 993 (10). Email checks use the organisation's parent domain.

Mail Transport Readiness checks implicit TLS on ports 465 (SMTPS) and 993 (IMAPS) for each MX host. TLS 1.3, no legacy TLS, a valid certificate chain, and a valid hostname are required for each port to be marked ready.

No reachable HTTP or HTTPS website means N/A, not F. No MX-based email service means email N/A. Grades are A 90-100, B 80-89, C 65-79, D 50-64, and F below 50. Each service is reported independently; there is no combined result.
